Embrace the Journey: Navigating Transitions as the School Year Ends

Hey there, awesome parents and students!

As the school year comes to a close, June brings a theme that's all about Transitions and Preparing for Change. Change is in the air, and we're here to help you make the most of this transition with positivity and excitement. Let's dive in and embrace the journey together!  At Glendon School, this means that we are preparing for the transition into summer break and preparing our graduates for life after high school.

Resource Roundup: Thriving Through Transitions

Explore these incredible resources for parents and students of all ages, designed to help you navigate transitions and embrace change:

For more resources, check out the Preparing for Change page on the NLPS website.

We have lots of events happening at Glendon School this month, make sure to check the calendar and the newsletter.

Reflecting on Last Month: Self-Care Sparks Joy!

In May, we explored the wonders of self-care. Share your thoughts: How did the theme of *Self-Care* impact your family? We'd love to hear your feedback and ideas.

Last month, we also had many events during Mental Health Week. Our students participated in chalk the walk, a mental health colouring contest, daily spirit days, kindness button making and they also indulged in some delicious doughnuts donated graciously by Tim Hortons in Bonnyville for Do-Nut Worry Monday.

Thriving in Transitions: Student Edition

Students, let's conquer change:

  1. Be Curious: Approach change with a sense of curiosity and openness. Embrace the unknown and see it as an opportunity for adventure and growth.
  2. Seek Support: Superheroes never face challenges alone. Reach out to friends, family, or a trusted counselor who can offer support and guidance during times of change. They'll be your sidekicks on this superhero journey.
  3. Plan and Prepare: Make a superhero plan! Research and gather information about the change you're facing. Knowing what to expect can help ease anxiety and boost your confidence.
  4. Embrace Flexibility: Superheroes are adaptable and flexible. Be open to new possibilities and be ready to adjust your plans along the way. Flexibility allows you to navigate change with grace and resilience.
  5. Practice Self-Care: Taking care of yourself is crucial during times of change. Prioritize self-care activities that recharge your energy and bring you joy. Engage in hobbies, practice mindfulness, and ensure you get enough rest to stay strong and focused.
  6. Embracing the Unknown: Change often involves stepping into the unknown, and that's where the real adventure lies. Embrace the unknown like a superhero, with a sense of excitement and courage. Remember, within the unknown lies the potential for incredible growth and new discoveries.
